Introducing Jack Johnson. The Man With a Single Song.

Oh, I'm gonna get heat from this one.

Today while cruising in the car, the disk jockey spun a new Jack Johnson song. It was a catchy little tune about something I really can't remember. About thirty seconds into it, I thought, "Hey wait a minute. I've heard this one before."

Actually, I hadn't. Or maybe I had.

With Jack Johnson, if you've heard one of his songs, you've heard them all - which isn't to say they aren't good, they are. It's just that if variety is the spice of life, then a little Jack Johnson goes a long long way.

If Jack is knocking himself off, however, he's not alone. Nearly every artist has figured out his/her/their own sound. A Carlos Santana song always sounds like a Carlos Santana song. Same with James Taylor, Glen Campbell and (least you think I'm that old) Dashboard Confessional.

I guess when you've got something good, you ought to milk it for all it's worth. Keep listening to Jack. I'll listened to a couple and then turn the channel.
